Awards
Each year, the Association of North Carolina Boards of Health recognizes individuals and groups for their contributions to and accomplishments in public health with three awards:
- Outstanding Board of Health Award
- Carl Durham Award
- Robert Ed Strother Award
The criteria for each award include:
- Community Involvement
- Citizen Support
- Inter-agency Collaboration
- Innovative Approaches
- Impact on Public Health

Outstanding Board of Health (there was a tie for 2015 - Henderson & Johnston)
- The Nominee for this award must be an ANCBH Institutional member of ANCBH.
- The board’s leadership in public health accomplishments must be clearly evident.
- The accomplishment must either have documented results or be currently producing intended results.
- The activity may be accomplished through the health department, other agencies, or groups.
